Allan Gurganus, Oxford American
The Oxford American is a magazine I have loved since the '90's, at last I am a small part of. If you get a chance, pick up a copy and read all about Allan and his new work Local Souls. Thanks go to William Gilraldi for a great story and Tom Martin for his vision in layout.
Thank you Allan for taking the time to do tintypes and Ambrotypes. He held still for over 2 min
while standing for our favorite plate .... what an artist!
Thank you Oxford American.

World Wet Plate Collodion Day at pattersbehn
Once again I will be working with one of the finest frame shops in all the south. Just understand they do amazing work framing fine art. For two days, come and have your portrait made by hand, eye and heart at the courtyard at Patterson Behn. Reserve your space now.
And as luck would have its also WORLD WET PLATE COLLODION DAY! Be part of the revolution!
Proceeds will help me get to MountainFilm in Telluride, to be a Guest Artist as Matt Morris shows his film AMERICAN TINTYPE. The tintype below was made for the film.
In other news----See this tintype at the Museum of the Cape Fear, in Fayetteville, now in their collection. I am honored! Also if in Raleigh, The Raleigh Fine Art Society is showing this work of mine(Damn Previous Owners) in its 2013 juried show until May 2nd.
Truly a wonderful showcase of North Carolina art. It's at the Duke Center for Progress Energy Convention Center, an amazing place to see all kinds of art.

A few more favorite Tintypes from the Blackberry Farm
A few more by popular demand. Shot at night with a strongly daylight process of wetplate collodion
by 2 artist working very hard. (special thank goes to Chris Morgan,thesilverbath.com) 29 quarter plates in 3 hours, -what a party it was! Keep in mind, at 8 second exposures, some people move in the middle of the night.
The Groom with the Bride of course...
And the guest got these, one of a kind cabinet cards, a CDV as we say in the biz. Or "Carta' de visite" if you you will
